Comfort Emmanson, the passenger who allegedly assaulted a staff member of Nigerian flight operator Ibom Air, has been placed on a no-fly life ban by the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON), following her actions toward the airline officials at Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos State.
AON action against Emmanson came hours after the Federal Government through the Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) carried out investigations to unravel what transpired between her and the airline staff on the flight inbound Lagos from Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital.
The development, which came after Ibom Air prohibited the young woman from boarding any of its flights, was confirmed by AON spokesperson, Obiora Okonkwo.
Okonkwo, in a statement issued on Monday, condemned Emmanson’s actions toward the staff, which Ibom Air had described as a serious threat to the safety of its crew, passengers, and aircraft.
According to the statement, “We condemn the violent incident involving Ms. Comfort Emmanson, a passenger on Ibom Air flight Q9 303 from Uyo to Lagos on August 10, 2025.
“Therefore, effective immediately, the AON has placed Ms. Emmanson on its ‘No Fly’ list indefinitely. She is hereby banned from flying with any AON member either domestically or internationally for life.
“Such incidents have become one too many with the most recent being the incident involving Nigerian musician, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (KWAM 1) on VajueJet and the unruly behaviour of Senator Adams Oshiomhole towards the members of staff of Air Peace.”
Meanwhile, the young woman has been remanded in the Kirikiri Correctional Centre by a court in Lagos.
The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo’s Special Assistant on Media and Communications Tunde Moshood, disclosed this development through a statement released on Monday.
“The more reason the flying public should be more careful, the unruly passenger on Uyo-Lagos bound Ibom Air, Miss Comfort Emmanson has been charged to court and she’s now cooling off in Kirikiri,” he said.
