Adamawa police arrests two drug peddlers possessing 197 tramadol sachets

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested two suspected drug traffickers found in possession of 197 sachets of Tramadol, in what authorities described as a major step toward curbing illegal drug circulation.

The suspects, Muhammad Mustapha, 32, from Dorayi in Kano State, and Muhammad Sanusi, 48, from Garoua, Cameroon, were intercepted by operatives of the Border Patrol Unit in Fufore during a targeted operation.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Nguroje, said on Wednesday that the arrest represents a “significant breakthrough in the ongoing fight against drug trafficking and trans-border crimes.”

Preliminary investigations revealed that the drugs were transported from a South-East state and were intended to be smuggled into the Republic of Cameroon before being intercepted in Adamawa State.

The Command noted that the operation underscores the unit’s vigilance and commitment to preventing the movement of illicit substances across international borders.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, commended the Border Patrol personnel for their professionalism and directed the Command’s Monitoring Unit to take over the case for further investigation and necessary action.

“We remain resolute in our commitment to eradicating drug-related crimes from the state,” he said.
