The Accord Party has extended an invitation to Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, expressing its readiness to welcome him as he considers a new political platform for his 2026 re-election campaign.
This development comes just days after Adeleke resigned from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) following prolonged internal disputes, which prompted consultations on a more stable political structure ahead of next year’s off-cycle poll.
The Osun Governor explained that his decision to leave the party was driven by persistent leadership turmoil at the PDP’s national level.
Speaking in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Wednesday, Accord’s state chairman, Dele Oladeji, said the governor would be welcomed if he decides to run on the party’s ticket.
“We are open to him, and we are prepared for whenever he makes his decision,” Oladeji said.
He added that the party maintains a unified structure, operating without internal conflict or external influence. “Our system is organised and peaceful. Anyone who joins can rely on it,” he noted.
Oladeji further stated that Accord members would fully rally behind Adeleke if he chooses the party for his second-term bid. “Once he steps in, we will give him our full support for a successful campaign,” he said.
Adeleke is expected to announce his preferred political platform on or before December 13, according to Osun Commissioner for Information, Kolapo Alimi, as preparations for the 2026 governorship election continue.
