Abuja varsity warns admission seekers against fake offers

By Marycelia Agim

The management of the University of Abuja (UniAbuja) has warned the public about fraudulent activities by individuals falsely claiming to offer admission, hostel accommodation, and employment in exchange for money or favours.

In a statement, UniAbuja said it had become aware of groups circulating fake admission letters, cloned websites, fraudulent social media accounts, and deceptive phone calls targeting candidates, parents, guardians, and job seekers.

The disclaimer, issued yesterday, clarified that all admission, hostel, and employment processes are handled exclusively through official channels.

“The University of Abuja wishes to state unequivocally that admission, accommodation, and recruitment are carried out strictly through established procedures. No person or agent has been authorised to demand or receive money or favours in exchange for any of these services,” the statement read.

The institute advised admission seekers to verify information via the SERVICOM Unit and the Directorate of Information and University Relations before taking any action.

UniAbuja further urged that all queries relating to admission, hostel accommodation, and recruitment be directed only to the University’s official platforms.

“Anyone who deals with these fraudsters does so at their own risk, as the University will not be held liable for any loss arising from such dealings,” the management added.

The University confirmed that its official website (www.uniabuja.edu.ng), verified email addresses, social media handles, and designated phone lines are the only legitimate sources of information for the public.
