Following the circulation of a medical report online allegedly involving Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, Serenity Royale Hospital, the Abuja facility mentioned in the document, has denied any involvement in the matter.
The hospital stated that the post “did not emanate from us” and urged the public to disregard it, emphasizing its commitment to patient confidentiality.
The circulating document reportedly alleges substance use and a detoxification program involving Daniels. It contains references to controlled substances, describes a six-week admission period, and claims she experienced distress, agitation, and sleeplessness.
The report also outlines a home-based detox arrangement and mentions alleged interference by unnamed visitors described as drug users.
It further includes an account of a psychological emergency reportedly triggered after Daniels allegedly went two nights without sleep and became involved in a disagreement with her husband and mother.
The document concludes with a diagnosis of substance use disorder and recommends continued therapy and restricted contact with certain relatives.
In a statement, Serenity Royale Hospital said: “Our attention has been drawn to a post being circulated online in the name of Serenity Royale Hospital with respect to Mrs Nwoko Regina. We wish to state clearly that the publication and circulation of the said post containing classified information did not emanate from us and respectfully request the public to disregard same.”
“We remain committed to high standard medical practice with huge commitment to ensuring medical confidentiality,” the facility added without disclosing whether the actress had ever received treatment at there.
The controversy has reignited discussion of Nigeria’s health privacy laws, including the National Health Act and the Nigeria Data Protection Act, which prohibit the release of confidential medical information without consent.
Several commentators have called for a review of the circumstances surrounding the report and urged professional bodies to examine potential breaches.
The allegations surfaced amid reports of a widening rift between Daniels and her husband, Delta North lawmaker Ned Nwoko.
Daniels has accused the senator of controlling behavior, while Nwoko has linked her grievances to alleged drug use and her refusal to accept alternative treatment.
Individuals close to him claim he has access to the disputed report, although he has not publicly confirmed sharing it.
Daniels’ brother has rejected the allegations, describing the report as fabricated, and also questioned the legal status of the marriage.
Online reaction has been intense, with many users discussing the potential misuse of private records and the broader implications for personal data protection.
Public debate continues, with calls for accountability and arguments that confidential medical information must not be leveraged in family disputes, especially those involving political figures or high-profile personalities.
