Operatives of the Adamawa State Police Command have arrested a 40-year-old resident, Abubakar Sadiq, accused of killing his elder brother, Boga Sadiq, during an argument.
The police described Abubakar as the prime suspect, adding that five other individuals have been identified as accomplices in the case.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Adamawa State Police Commandās spokesperson, Suleiman Nguroje, said the incident occurred in Gombi Local Government Area on January 20, 2026, and was tracked following actionable intelligence from officers attached to the Gombi Divisional Police Headquarters.
āDuring interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime and named five accomplices,ā Nguroje said, noting that investigators acted swiftly on the information provided.
According to the police, the suspect led operatives to a location where an AK-47 rifle and 24 rounds of live ammunition allegedly used in the offence were recovered.
Two of the accomplices, Jalo Hamiyu and Umar Baba, were later traced to another hideout in Gombi, where they were killed.
āUpon sighting operatives, the two accomplices opened fire, resulting in a gun duel that led to their neutralisation,ā Nguroje said.
Additional exhibits, including a locally made rifle and a Dane gun, were recovered, while efforts continue to apprehend the remaining three suspects who are still at large.
Meanwhile, Commissioner of Police Dankombo Morris commended the operatives for their swift action, assuring residents that the arrested suspect would be charged after investigations conclude and that those still on the run would be brought to justice.
