No fewer than 30 injured casualties have been recorded following a disastrous earthquake which hit Japan community causing lots of properties of yet to be known value damaged.
The massive magnitude 7.5 quake, which lasted for about 20 seconds happened in northern causing severe damages on roads and knocking out power for thousands in freezing temperatures, leading to unrest to residents in the area.
The Japan Meteorological Agency disclosed that the incident triggered tsunami waves up to 70 centimetres raising likely occurrence of similar or larger tremors in the coming days.
Footages of the disaster showed people in a supermarket clinging to a table with items having fallen off shelves, as well as crevasses in roads and at least one car in a hole.
The Fire and Disaster Management Agency held that broken glass from windows was scattered on roads and pavements, alongside Daiki Shimohata, a 33-year-old civil servant in Hamishu, said that the strong quake which happened in Aomori, about 11:15 pm on Monday, was never experienced. He added,“We rushed out of our homes holding our children, a two-year-old girl and a one-year-old boy, in our arms. The shaking reminded me of the disaster in 2011.
With temperatures around freezing point, around 2,700 homes were without power but by Tuesday morning electricity had been restored to most areas, according to utility providers.
Prime Minister, Sanae Takaichi, held that the authorities are investigating the matter are are on measures to provide solace for victims of the incident.
