No fewer than 10 bandits have been confirmed dead and several others injured during a violent confrontation between rival terrorist groups of two notorious leaders in Kaduna State.
As gathered, the deceased, whose names have not been confirmed, were shot dead during the clash between rival insurgent groups in the Giwa Local Government Area, near the villages of Toroko and Awala.
The clash, said to be caused by a territorial dispute, resulted in a fierce gun battle, which ultimately led to the loss of lives on both sides.
As gathered, the conflicts started after one of the group claimed that the other bandit group encroached into their territory and extorted residents who had been paying tribute to them.
Fueled by anger, the rival bandits clashed, with the heated argument rapidly spiraling out of control into a fierce gun battle that left at least ten of the members dead.
According to a source, Zagazola, who disclosed the attack on Thursday, the altercation between both rival groups has contributed to escalating tensions in Giwa’s local government Area of the state.
“This clash is a stark reminder of the power struggles among criminal groups in the area,” he said.
He stated that the violence has left the local population deeply concerned, as the deadly encounter adds to the already volatile security situation in the region.
“The residents are living in constant fear, unsure of what the future holds,” Zagazola noted further.
The incident has further highlighted the growing instability in Kaduna, where banditry has been a persistent threat to communities.
When contacted, Kaduna police spokesman Mansir Hassan said that they had been informed of the latest incident and that the investigation into the clash had commenced.
